The policy of the Locust Valley Central School District Board of Education regarding transportation of public and non-public school students requires that eligibility be determined according to the distance from the student’s legal residence to the school of attendance.  Transportation is provided as follows:

Kindergarten - All district children regardless of location
Grades 1 – 5 - More than 1/2-mile distance
Grades 6 – 12 - More than one mile distance

Transportation to private and parochial schools will be provided up to a distance of 15 miles.  According to state law, distance (not hazard or any other factor) is the sole eligibility criterion.
