VOTER INFORMATION

In order to vote you must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years old or older, and a resident of this school district for at least thirty days before the vote. In addition, a resident must be registered either with the school district or with the Nassau County Board of Elections. If you are not already registered with either, you may register with the County by mail or in person. 

Use the registration forms below to vote in all (school, local and national) elections. The form must be returned by mail or in person to the Nassau County Board of Elections before the election you want to vote in. The county will notify you that you are registered to vote.

Use the registration forms below to vote in school district elections only. The form must be returned in person to the District Clerk's office in the Administration Building (22 Horse Hollow Road, Locust Valley) on school days between 9:00 a.m. and 4 p.m. through May 14, 2024.

Special Saturday registration will be held on May 11, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Administration Building at 22 Horse Hollow Road.  Applications for Absentee Ballots will also be available.

Please note that 
May 14, 2024, is the last day to register for the May 21st Budget Vote and Trustee Election.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS AND EARLY VOTE MAIL

An Absentee Ballot can be used by anyone who is unable to appear in person on the day of the school district election. College students who are registered to vote in the District should complete an application for an Absentee Ballot early to allow for timely mailing of the Absentee Ballot.

An Early Vote Mail Ballot can be used by anyone who would like to vote by mail in advance of the in-person vote and election on May 21, 2024.

Applications for Absentee Ballots and Early Vote Mail Ballots will be available online and for pick up at the Administration Building (22 Horse Hollow Road) beginning Monday, April 22, 2024.

NOT SURE WHERE TO VOTE?

You must vote in the election district in which you reside. The designated polling places in each election district are as follows: 

Bayville Election District: Bayville Intermediate School, Gymnasium, 50 Mountain Avenue, Bayville 

Brookville Election District: Community Hall of the Brookville Reformed Church, 2 Brookville Road, Brookville 

Locust Valley Election District: Ann MacArthur Primary School, Gymnasium, 100 Ryefield Road, Locust Valley

BOARD OF EDUCATION CANDIDATES

District residents who are interested in running for a Board of Education position should contact Alison Dunne, District Clerk, at (516) 277-5002 or by email at aldunne@locustvalleyschools.org to request a School Board Candidate packet and nominating petition beginning February 1, 2024.

SUBMISSION OF NOMINATING PETITIONS FOR LVCSD 

Completed petitions and other required documents are to be returned to the District Clerk's office at 22 Horse Hollow Road, Locust Valley, NY 11560 no later than Monday, April 22, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. in order for their name to appear on the ballot for the May 21, 2024, election.  A candidate is required to obtain the signatures of not less than 44 qualified voters of the district (2% of the voters who voted in the previous annual election (2,235) as required by law). Original documents must be filed by this deadline; e-mail or facsimile transmissions will not be accepted.
