ANNUAL BUDGET VOTE INFORMATION FOR THE 2023-2024 BUDGET

VOTER INFORMATION
In order to vote you must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years old or older, and a resident of this school district for at least thirty days before the vote. In addition, a resident must be registered either with the school district or with the Nassau County Board of Elections. If you are not already registered with either, you may register with the County by mail or in person.
You can easily register to vote for our School District Budget Vote and Election which will take place on May 16, 2023 by simply printing out the attached form and mailing it directly to the Nassau County Board of Elections. You may also register in person in the Locust Valley School District. By doing so, you will only be qualified to vote in school district votes. To register in the school district click here to print out the district form. Bring this form to the District Clerkâs office, Administration Building, 22 Horse Hollow Road, Locust Valley on school days between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. through May 9, 2023.
Special Saturday registration will be held on May 6, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Administration Building at 22 Horse Hollow Road. Applications for Absentee Ballots will also be available.
Please note that May 9, 2023 is the last day to register for the May 16th Budget Vote and Trustee Election.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS
An Absentee Ballot can be used by anyone who is unable to appear in person on the day of the school district election. College students who are registered to vote in the District should complete an application for an Absentee Ballot early to allow for timely mailing of the Absentee Ballot.

You must vote in the election district in which you reside. The designated polling places in each election district are as follows:
Bayville Election District: Bayville Intermediate School, Gymnasium, 50 Mountain Avenue, Bayville
Brookville Election District: Community Hall of the Brookville Reformed Church, 2 Brookville Road, Brookville
Locust Valley Election District: Ann MacArthur Primary School, Gymnasium, 100 Ryefield Road, Locust Valley

SUBMISSION OF NOMINATING PETITIONS FOR LVCSD
BOARD OF EDUCATION CANDIDATES
District residents who are interested in running for a Board of Education position should contact Susan Hammerschmidt, District Clerk, at 516 277-5007 or by email at shammerschmidt@locustvalleyschools.org to request a School Board Candidate packet and nominating petition beginning February 1, 2023.
Completed petitions and other required documents are to be returned to the District Clerk's office at 22 Horse Hollow Road, Locust Valley, NY 11560 no later than Monday, April 17, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. in order for their name to appear on the ballot for the May 16, 2023 election. A candidate is required to obtain the signatures of not less than 46 qualified voters of the district (2% of the voters who voted in the previous annual election (2,302) as required by law). Original documents must be filed by this deadline; e-mail or facsimile transmissions will not be accepted.
