Who to Call
The District has established communication protocols to respond effectively to questions and suggestions from parents and residents. The procedures start with the person closest to the situation, as it is that person that will have the most information. Because situations sometimes require that additional staff become involved in the conversations, we have tried to categorize here the major areas of interest, with a list for each area of those responsible. If you have questions pertaining to the school district or your child’s progress, please do not hesitate to contact us. We encourage any and all questions from parents and residents concerning school matters.

Board of Education
The Board of Education’s role is to oversee the district’s affairs, including personnel and properties. The Board employs a superintendent and submits a proposed budget to the district voters for their approval. It does not oversee specific employees, beyond the Superintendent or get involved in the day-to-day operations of the school district. However, the Board does vote to adopt curriculum and policies presented by the Superintendent and sets goals for the District that the Superintendent carries out. Issues regarding the school district should be addressed following the communications protocol before being brought to the Board of Education.
Administrators
District administrators are responsible for providing instructional and financial leadership, ensuring that students and staff are safe and that the schools focus on academic progress while also ensuring that social emotional needs are met. Building administrators oversee all of the staff in their buildings. Central office administrators supervise the building administrators. Issues related to the schools should be handled at the building level prior to contacting a central office administrator.
Parent Councils
Each of the district schools has a Parents' Council, consisting of officers elected by the council’s members. These volunteer organizations provide support for the schools in a variety of ways. While the Parents' Councils work cooperatively with the school administrators, the school district does not oversee these groups and has no authority over the members, the officers or the activities in which they engage. Members are expected to act within the confines of the Code of Conduct while on campus. The Parents' Councils are vital to the success of our schools as they provide support that makes a difference for all of our students.
Still not resolved? If a matter remains unresolved after the above steps have been followed, an appeal can be sought at the level of the Board of Education. The primary responsibility of the Board is to set board policy for the school district. The Superintendent and staff are legally empowered to administer the school district and to put into operation the policies and decisions of the Board of Education.
