On August 3, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) named 21 Locust Valley High School teams among the winners of the 2021-2022 School of Excellence Award.
The School of Excellence Award tasks varsity coaches to challenge their teams to achieve a statewide academic honor. This year, 86 schools earned the School of Distinction Award, and 148 schools earned the School of Excellence Award.
To earn the School of Excellence Award, 75 percent of a school’s varsity teams must achieve a GPA greater than or equal to 90.00. The School of Excellence winners will be awarded a plaque at their local athletic director workshop.
LVHS was also a School of Excellence in 2020-21, 2019-20, 2018-19, and 2017-18 and was a School of Distinction in 2016-17 and 2015-16.
“I am proud that our student-athletes have once again shown that they are students first,” Locust Valley Athletic Director Danielle Turner said.
