Locust Valley seniors Jack Baker and Payton Tini have been named the school’s winners for the Heisman High School Scholarship.

Locust Valley High School seniors Jack Baker and Payton Tini were named Heisman High School Scholarship School Winners on Nov. 2. The football and lacrosse stars balanced school and sports, surpassing the 3.0 GPA required for consideration.

The Heisman High School Scholarship recognizes the most esteemed high school seniors in the country for their most important victories: the ones in the classroom and communities.

Baker, a football and baseball player for the Falcons, has worked as an ambassador of the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation, headed by the retired New York Rangers goalie, putting together baskets of materials for single mothers with newborn babies.

Tini competes on the LVHS varsity soccer, basketball and lacrosse teams, but she has also given back to the community coaching a local fifth-grade basketball team at St. Gertrude’s Church in Bayville.

“Jack and Payton epitomize what it means to be a Locust Valley Falcon,” Athletic Director Danielle Turner said. “Aside from their athletic accomplishments, they both place an emphasis on serving their school and community when they aren’t on the field.”
