LOCUST VALLEY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT NOTICE A Special Meeting of the Board of Education Following the Annual Budget Vote Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at approximately 10:00 p.m. *Executive session 8:00 p.m. LOCATION CHANGE To be held in the Auditorium of the Locust Valley Middle SchoolHigh School 99 Horse Hollow Road, Locust Valley PLEASE NOTE: The location of the Special Meeting Following the Annual Budget Vote has been changed to the High School due to technical/equipment issues at Ann MacArthur Primary School. A Special Board of Education Meeting will be held in the Auditorium of the Locust Valley Middle School/High School, 99 Horse Hollow Road, Locust Valley to announce the results of the Budget Vote and Trustee Election. #It is anticipated that the Board of Education will act upon a resolution to convene an Executive Session before the special meeting of the Board in order to discuss personnel matters relating to specific individual(s). Please note that an Executive Session is a portion of a school board meeting that is not open to the public. If any action is required to be taken in public session, the Board of Education will act in accordance with the law. The Board Meeting will also be livestreamed so that the public will be able to view and/or listen to the meeting. Security Upgrades. Over the past few years, the district has continued to add to its safety precautions with new camera and attendance systems, additional security staff, and lifesaving medical devices and training for building staff. The 2026-2027 budget will provide additional safety precautions at every building, primarily new doors and lock upgrades, as recommended to the district by the Nassau County Police Department and Department of Homeland Security.

In Proposition No. 2, the Board of Education is seeking permission from the community to align policy with current practices of providing transportation for all in-district students, regardless of distance from their school. Additionally, the proposition will increase the maximum distance for private and parochial students from 15 to 18 miles, at no additional cost to the district or taxpayer. Budget Financials: The 2026-2027 adopted budget carries a tax levy increase of 2.10%, which is far below the maximum levy increase of 2.84%, and is the second lowest among 12 neighboring districts.
