The Locust Valley Falcons are Long Island champions!
Locust Valley defeated Suffolk County’s John H. Glenn High School 1-0 on Nov. 3 at Mitchel Field to capture the Long Island Class A Boys Soccer Championship.
This was the Falcon's first Long Island championship win after Peter Coen scored with 3:42 left in the first overtime period.
The victory builds on the Falcons’ Nassau County championship and adds another milestone to Coach Joe Lee’s 23rd and final season leading the team.
For Lee, a Locust Valley teacher as well as a coach, this season celebrates years of working with students in the classroom and on the soccer field. For the players, the championship is a shared achievement built through a season of preparation, commitment and teamwork.
Locust Valley will face Rye on Saturday, Nov. 7 in the state quarterfinals at 3 p.m. at Jericho High School.
The Falcons’ postseason run has given the community plenty to celebrate and younger soccer players a team to look up to as they imagine their own futures in Locust Valley uniforms.
Congratulations to the players, Lee and the entire coaching staff on winning the Long Island championship!
