An LVI student works with Samantha Augeri, an Emmy Award-winning meteorologist, to practice her own broadcast.

On Feb. 10, Locust Valley Intermediate School students had a wonderful opportunity to see what it takes to be a broadcast meteorologist, while also enjoying the fun of recreating major weather events on a small scale. Samantha Augeri, an Emmy Award-winning meteorologist with nearly two decades of experience, taught students about wind patterns, types of clouds and high- and low-pressure systems as part of her Sam’s Weather School program. Students observed extreme weather conditions through a tornado machine and got to try their hand at being a television weather person using a green screen.
