Students and staff at the Locust Valley middle school and high school are settling into a new cafeteria designed to make mealtimes more comfortable, welcoming and connected.
The renovated space features abundant natural light, flexible seating and a clean, modern design.
Large communal tables give students room to eat and socialize, while a mix of seating options allows the cafeteria to accommodate different groups and activities throughout the day.
The new setting is about more than serving meals. It creates another place at the school where students can build friendships and enjoy time together outside the classroom.
On the first day of school, the cafeteria was full of energy, conversation and activity—a promising beginning for a space that will serve the school community for years to come.
Some of the students’ favorite features include the bar-style seating overlooking the courtyard and the comfortable booths.
