Sixth graders Nicholas Allotta and Alyssa Johnson and 10th grader Eva Jaszczuk earned the top three spots in a poster contest celebrating Italian-American Heritage Month.

Open to all middle and high school Italian students, the contest invited participants to showcase their creativity in celebration of Italian-American heritage.

Eva was inspired to draw different things brought to the United States by Italians, including food, well as images representing both countries.

The 16 submitted posters were judged on creativity, originality, appearance and legibility. All entries are on display near the auditorium at the middle and high school.

Italian teachers Eleonora Aiello, Mariantonia Angelo and Melissa Caravello coordinated the project.

Italian-American Heritage Month is held in October to celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of Italian immigrants and their descendants to the United States.
