Locust Valley High School 10th graders joined second graders at Ann MacArthur Primary School and Bayville Primary School for "Be The Change Day" to promote peace and kindness.
The Nassau County Council of School Superintendents and the Shanti Fund Organization partnered in launching the initiative to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday and the International Day of Non-Violence on Oct. 2.
High schoolers read a story and helped their younger peers create bookmarks to support Gandhi's message of nonviolence.
The collaboration gave students across grade levels an opportunity to connect while reflecting on the values of peace, kindness, empathy, respect, and positive action.
