Hundreds of children and their families gathered at Locust Valley Middle and High School on Oct. 29 for its annual Safe Halloween celebration. Organized by the high school student government and school clubs, the after-school event brought the Falcon community together for games, treats and Halloween fun.
For an $8 admission fee, each child received a bag to decorate and fill with goodies while exploring classrooms hosted by student and teacher volunteers.
Activities included a Garden Club pumpkin patch, face painting by the Art and Fashion clubs, decathlon-style games hosted by the DECA Club, spooky trivia and karaoke. Roving robots from the Robotics Club added to the excitement.
Dressed in Halloween costumes, students and teachers welcomed young visitors and joined in the festivities.
The evening also included pizza and baked goods. Club merchandise was also available for purchase to support student organizations.
“Beyond providing a fun experience for local families, Safe Halloween gives student volunteers opportunities to build leadership, communication, creativity and teamwork skills while strengthening their connection to the community,” said Superintendent Kristen Turnow.
Admission proceeds support the high school student government and the events it helps organize throughout the year, including the Intergenerational Dinner and Battle of the Grades. Teachers Stephanie Scavelli and Ashley Gruter serve as student government advisers.
Thank you to all the student volunteers, teachers and participating clubs who helped make Safe Halloween a memorable celebration for our Falcon community.
